Italian anti-mafia investigators, DDA have arrested 13 suspects as part of an operation against an alleged Nigerian mafia gang. The gang is accused of managing a human trafficking and prostitution ring. Italian authorities have demolished ten illegal buildings used by migrants in the southern area of Borgo Mezzanone near Foggia.
The buildings were used as shops but also featured a nightclub and a brothel. The new prostitute protection law in Germany was meant to identify victims of human trafficking โ most of them migrant women. More than 18 months after the law came into effect, thousands continue to be targeted for exploitation, and the risk for Nigerian women seems to be increasing.
